Massachusetts-born Anne Whitney was a poet and sculptor, deeply involved in the abolitionist and suffrage movements; Edmonia Lewis was the first professional Black sculptor in the country. We’ll explore the incredible lives and art of these two 19th-century female sculptors from the before creating our own clay creations.
